Publishable and Applicable Findings

I wonder what makes a person can be in a list of nobel laureates? It is easy to get noble prize? So, I go through www.nobelprize.org to hunt the answer of questions above. Before, I would like to share a quote from Professor Helinger. He said to all genius that win carnegie scholarship 

"Mathematicians won the war. Mathematicians broke the Japanese codes and built the A-bomb. Mathematicians like you. The stated goal of the Soviets is global Communism. In medicine or economics, in technology or space, battle lines are being drawn. To triumph,we need results. Publishable and  applicable results. Now who among you will be the next Morse? The next Einstein? Who among you will be the vanguard of democracy, freedom, and discovery?"

I did investigate on 2010 nobel laureates' (Nobel Prize in chemistry) paper. Such a huge contribution to man kind. The Art of in a Test Tube that really change the mind set itself. Of course that the findings never cross my mind before but it was the brutal realization that the findings must been used over the years to be select as the winner of nobel prize award. Simply amazed that the idea of Palladium Catalyzed Cross Coupling in Organic Synthesis really widen my conception on chemistry. I would like to say congrats to Richard F. Heck, Ei-ichi Negishi and Akira Suzuki the contribution to chemistry field.
